Post Onsite Tank Testing & Repair

Remount Authority

Your tank, mounted right.

Full tank remounts — removing your existing petroleum tank from an aging chassis, inspecting it, and mounting it on a new trailer. R-stamp certified, documented, defensible.

Most petroleum tanks outlast their original trailer chassis by 5-10 years. Tank remounting extends the working life of a tank you've already paid for, on a new chassis with current suspension, brakes, axles, and DOT compliance. Done right, it costs roughly half of a new trailer. Done wrong, it creates compliance problems that haunt you for the life of the unit. Post Onsite specializes in tank remounting and treats it as the certification-grade work it actually is.

What's included in a Post Onsite tank remount

Existing tank assessment

Pre-remount inspection of the tank — shell integrity, baffles, manhole assemblies, valves, fittings. If the tank isn't worth remounting, we tell you before the work starts.

Tank removal and inspection

Careful removal from the existing chassis. Bottom inspection (you can't see it until it's off). NDT on critical weld zones. Documentation of as-found condition.

Necessary repairs before remount

Whatever R-stamp work is needed before the tank goes back on. We don't mount a tank with active defects. We tell you what's required, quote it, and document everything.

New chassis preparation

Mounting bracket fabrication or alignment, suspension setup, frame preparation. We work with chassis from major manufacturers — Heil, Polar, Brenner, Tremcar — and have working knowledge of mounting specs.

Mounting and integration

Tank mounted to spec. Bottom-loading and vapor recovery integrated. Plumbing routed and tested. Internal valves checked. Compliance signage applied.

Final testing and documentation

Pressure test, leak test, DOT inspection performed on the remounted unit. Full documentation package delivered before the unit leaves our yard.

Why fleets choose Post Onsite for remounts

Tank remounting is high-margin work for shops because it's complex, time-consuming, and required by physics. It's high-risk work for fleet operators because a poorly-mounted tank fails compliance audits, creates terminal access problems, and can cause real safety incidents on the road. The right shop matters more than the lowest quote.

Our remount process is structured because our customers operate in compliance-sensitive markets. Most of our remount customers are running fuel and refined product at terminals where compliance documentation is the price of admission. We deliver units that pass terminal audits because we've built the process around that requirement.

Common questions

How do I know if my tank is worth remounting?

Send us photos and a description of the tank's age, condition, and any known issues. We'll give you an honest read — sometimes a remount is the right call, sometimes a tank is past its useful life and replacement is the better economics. Or take the "Is Your Tank Worth Remounting?" assessment on our website (Remount Authority page).

How long does a remount take?

Typically 2-4 weeks from start to finish, including pre-inspection, any required R-stamp work, mounting, and final testing. Specific timeline depends on what we find during inspection.

Do you supply the new chassis or do I?

Either works. Many customers buy chassis directly from manufacturers and bring them to us. Others have us source the chassis through our distributor relationships. We'll discuss the trade-offs during the quote.

What if you find more damage during disassembly?

We stop, document, and call you with options before doing any additional work. You decide whether to proceed with the additional scope or take a different path. We don't do work that wasn't in the quote without your approval.
